In Spring/Summer 2012, the fashion world saw many trends emerge. A resurgence of pastels, black and white minimalism, and color blocking.
Fashion forward brides are always looking for ways to translate what was on the runway to the aisle. Here is NYK Wedding’s foray into making that happen.
Clearly, the neon and jewel tones seen on this season’s runways do not lend themselves to bridal apparel in a explicit sense. However, color loving brides might choose to incorporate the trend in a variety of surprising and creative ways.
Color blocking… White?
A bride can color block her own attire utilizing various shades of white and ivory. By selecting a futuristic gown, such as the Emilio De La Morena below which plays with various fabrics and textures, a bride can create distinct blocks on her body, slimming her and giving the illusion of length.

Color blocking… flowers?
A new and innovative way to color block at a wedding is to choose color variants of the same type of flower. Below we see color blocked gladiolus presented in a very modern way, as well as a bouquet of flowers in the same tones and a brightly hued shoe, which can be an interesting way to add a pop of color.

Color Blocking… your bridal party?
A final idea of how to incorporate this fashion trend is to put it on bridesmaids and flower girls. But brides beware, such a loud bridesmaid dress means that you must choose very simple bouquets or no bouquets at all and opt for paper fans or umbrellas.
