Pearly Queens

You may have noticed a revival of pearls in recent months, largely reinforced by the Great Gatsby trend. Whilst pearls were traditionally worn solely by members of the royal family, now they can be found in many different shapes and price ranges, having thus become a firm favourite with many celebrities and fashionistas.

dcamb copyThe Duchess of Cambridge led the way with a variety of pearl earrings over the last few months, and others shortly followed suit. Amy Willerton was firmly attached to her pearl necklace during her time in the jungle, while Pixie Lott was seen exhibiting South Sea pearl earrings and a matching ring at a fundraiser for the Amy Winehouse Foundation. A-lister JLo also jumped on the bandwagon with a striking pair of cluster pearl earrings.

Despite being a firm favourite with brides, pearls can be adapted for a variety of occasions to create a demure feminine look.

Not one to miss out on an accessory must-have, we are stocking up on pearl accessories to add to our winter wardrobe for a royal fashion savvy look! After all, if it’s good enough for Kate Middleton…!

Suit Up In Style…

You may have noticed a resurgence in sharp tailoring and snappy dressing of late, which is largely attributed to some of the most prolific celebrities themselves.

Kardashian fans will no doubt be familiar with Scott Disick’s affinity for style, regularly displayed by his plethora of tailor made suits, tucked handkerchiefs and suede loafers. And it doesn’t stop there…Lord Disick has made no secret of his love for accessories, be it; fancy socks, a cravat, designer man-bag, cufflinks or the occasional cane! And his style has certainly not gone unnoticed, having well cemented his place on any ‘best dressed’ list for men!

And he isn’t the only one. TOWIE’s very own Mario Falcone is well renowned for his talents in bespoke tailoring on the iconic Saville Row. In fact, his passion for his profession is as strong as ever, since he is now set to launch his very own range of suits alongside a book dedicated to tailoring. Ex-TOWIE star Mark Wright recently created a capsule collection for Littlewoods which includes dapper suits that he has modelled himself.

Let’s not forget Marks & Spencer, who have famously maximised awareness around their range of suits over the years, with the help of some familiar (and rather attractive) male faces….Antonio Banderas, Take That, England Football team, Ryan Reynolds, David Gandy…need we go on?

As the ongoing trend for tailored suits continues to soar, cufflinks have simultaneously become the most stylish accessory of men’s fashion today. And as you would expect, designers have responded with a vast and varied selection of choice readily available. So how do you choose which one suits?

In the same way that fashion depicts an individual’s style, cufflink choice shows the taste and aesthetical sense of a man. Whilst they undoubtedly provide the finishing touch to help pull it all together, try to select a classic pair which will amplify the look, but never go out of date.

Despite being well renowned for her flashy style on the red carpet, actress Rose McGowan wowed in a very traditional white wedding gown when she tied the knot on Saturday in a romantic ceremony to artist Davey Detail in front of 60 guests. Rose’s strapless A-line silk Monique Lhuillier creation featured a corset and Chantilly lace draped with a fine tulle overlay, and the waistline of the dress was accented with a knot detail cascading into the skirt. She finished her bridal look with a raw edge chapel-length tulle veil and Jimmy Choo shoes.

The Best of British Bridal

Finally we can bring you the highlights from the 2013 British Bridal exhibition – the UK’s biggest and best bridal event.

Emerging key trends for 2014 include luxury, glamour and some very creative interpretations of vintage. An interesting play on fabrics was also evident this year, with an array of patterns and prints, laser-cut fabrics, embroidered lace motifs and opulent bead work – reinventing the classics with a contemporary twist.

Gold showed up in many of the bridal collections (including Donna Salado’s), along with a strong neutral colour palate of; blush, ash grey, pastel greens, mint and touches of Wedgwood blue – seen across footwear, bridal wear and bridesmaid dresses.

Pearls played a very prominent role, both on headdresses and veils, not to mention the elegant detailing on tailored jackets and wide satin collars for a very elegant finish.

But the most desirable trend on the catwalks was undoubtedly the back detailing, which unveiled the potential for daring keyholes down to the waist, along with deep and perfectly-draped cowls. These plunging necklines, seen in collections such as Tony Mentel’s, have led the way for statement accessories to really shine…

She arrived at the intimate ceremony in a horse drawn carriage, adorning an ivory radzimir-satin strapless ball gown, complete with an eight-foot long and 16-foot-wide train for the ceremony. She complemented the minimalist look with an elegant diamond headband and diamond earrings, courtesy of sparkling estate diamond jewellery.

Red and Yellow and Pink and Green, Purple and Orange and Blue…I Can See A Rainbow!

According to a survey conducted by post-it note company 3M, young brides of today are no longer opting for the traditional white dress, preferring instead to marry in colour.

Whether this is merely a sign of the times, or simply a new fashion trend set by a number of A-listers including Jessica Biel and Reese Witherspoon…who knows??

Either way, it seems that colour could soon be making a splash on the aisles…
